Howdy again, folks! I have some questions for you all. I’d really like to hear about your opinions and your experience on this matter, ’cause I’m not real sure what to think myself. Ever watch an anime and notice the opening or ending has a song from one of your favorite visual kei bands? Sometimes, this is how people discover visual kei in the first place. Other times, you might run into fans who really like “Ready Steady Go” from the Fullmetal Alchemist, but don’t know anything about L’Arc~en~Ciel.
Maybe you don’t like anime, and you think Nightmare‘s “The World” is too cool for Death Note?
And that brings me to my questions:
What are your thoughts on the relationship between visual kei and anime? Have you discovered bands you like through anime? When a visual kei band you follow contributes a song to an anime, do you find it exciting? Jarring? Strange?
As always, please be polite and respectful of others and their opinions. Feel free to comment on this page; or via Facebook, Twitter, or Tumblr. As for me, I noticed the animators who create the openings and endings try to match the beat and melody of the song to the animation. Sometimes the lyrics fit, but sometimes they might not fit at all.
Anywho, if you’ve got an opinion about song titles and their translations when they’re shipped over-seas, be sure to check last week’s question! And if there’s something you’re dying to debate with other fans, let us know!
