Since YOSHIKI’s emergency surgery last year, fans have been wondering if YOSHIKI will ever get back to the insane drumming he’s known and loved for. Despite the tough road to recovery, the rock star has been making worldwide appearances at media events regularly. He officially returned to the stage as a drummer for the New Year, but he hasn’t played a full set – until now.
On April 10 and 11, X JAPAN will play two solo shows at Zepp Diver City in Tokyo. The shows are officially titled, “X JAPAN LIVE 2018 pre-American music festival appearance PREMIUM GIGS ~ YOSHIKI: A Night of Resurrection ~.” While a bit lengthy, it gets the point across. These are the two shows X JAPAN will play before their monumental appearance at Coachella just a few days later (April 14).
So, what’s the “premium” part? X JAPAN will be joined by two guest guitarists over the course of two shows – Richard Fortus of Guns N’ Roses, and Wes Borland of Limp Bizkit. Both guitarists played alongside the band when they had their reunion show in March 2008.
In addition to regular tickets, the April 11 show will be livestreamed in select theaters in Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. The show begins at 7 P.M. JST. If you want more information on the livestreaming events, click here.
If you want to see it live and in person, you’ll have to be a member of anything Yoshiki fanclub-related to enter into a ticket lottery for now. First floor standing tickets are 30,000 yen each, and second floor seated tickets are 50,000 each. There’s also going to be a VIP package available for 30,000 yen (in addition to the regular ticket fee) that will include access to the pre-show sound check and some VIP goods. Information on that hasn’t been made available yet. The rules for entering for tickets are pretty strict, so make sure you read the fine print!
