Shingo to leave GOTCHAROCKA

gotcharocka
This probably isn’t the news GOTCHAROCKA fans were looking forward to. After the end of their Winter Oneman Tour back in January, they’ve announced last week that their bassist Shingo would be leaving the band on March 30th. They’ve posted an official statement on their OHP along with comments from each member, all of which have been translated by our own Jackson. You can read them below.

This is GOTCHAROCKA. Thanks for always cheering us on.

We’re sad to report that our bassist Shingo will be departing the band after one final live on March 30th (Sunday) at TSUTAYA O-WEST.

Shingo expressed a desire to leave the band due to creative differences at the beginning of the year, and since then we’ve all had some tough discussions about it.

On top of all that, though, he’s in poor shape and there’s trouble with his family, and it’s just not possible to keep going with the band the way he has been, so in the end we’ve all accepted his decision to leave.
And so, sudden as it may be, it looks like our Sunday, March 30th live will be our last one as a four-piece band.

Just so you know, our subsequently planned lives are NOT cancelled–they’ll go on according to plan.

On a related note, our new song Chorus GR&GR’s Collaboration was planned to come out on March 30th, but unfortunately it’ll have to be moved to Sunday, April 20th; our singles scheduled for release in May and June will also be delayed till June and July, respectively.

We’re sorry to cause such a headache for all our fans and supporters, but we hope you’ll keep on showing up for us.

From the Members and Staff of GOTCHAROCKA

Members’ individual comments are below.

Sorry to trouble you all with this so suddenly.

When Shingo said he wanted to leave, we searched long and hard for the best possible solution, and this is what we ended up with.
I really wanted Shingo to stay on with GOTCHAROCKA, but we couldn’t just keep forcing him to stay onstage with the way things are now.
Of course this was tough on the rest of us, but I think it was a tough decision for Shingo too.
So for this last month or so, we’re gonna work hard to give him the best send-off we can.

After that, we’ll be down to three members, but GOTCHAROCKA still has a lot left to accomplish.
We’re going to keep supporting each other and keep our heads up from now on.

Together with the GR’s that support us.

Jui

Dear all,
Sorry to drop this unfortunate news on you all at once.

This is very disappointing for me personally.

When Shingo told us he wanted to leave the band, I tried to stop him over and over, but he wasn’t budging, and in the end we had to respect his decision.

I feel terrible for all of you who supported us as the four-person band we were.

It’ll be just three of us from here on out, but we still have heaps of important stuff we want to bring to you all, and we want to make a new GOTCHAROCKA like no one’s ever seen together with all of you.
From here on out, I, Jui, Toya, and our incredibly supportive staff are going to stay strong together and keep on looking ahead.
We hope you’ll keep cheering us on.

JUN

To all GOTCHAROCKA’s supporters: Sorry this is so out of the blue.

Of course this is terribly sad for us, but on the other hand, we made this decision to allow Shingo-san to focus on his own path and taking care of his family.
We looked all over for some way to keep the four of us together, but in the end we decided this is how it has to be.

I know this is tough for me, and I was working with him–I can only imagine how bad it is for those of you who supported us.
But we all had to respect Shingo-san’s decision, so I hope in time you’ll understand and forgive us a little.

So GOTCHAROCKA will be a three-member band starting in April, but we aim to keep the entertainment coming–we’re gonna have the coolest sound and coolest lives ever, so keep cheering us on.

Toya

Dear all,

I know this is out of nowhere, and I’m very sorry to have to say it.

There’s been an unfortunate buildup of circumstances, making it so that staying on the stage would just be too taxing on my physical and mental health, and so I’ve decided to leave the band.

It’s difficult to put it into words, but I have to face these problems, and it’d just cause more trouble for everyone if I didn’t.

I know I’m letting down all our fans, members, and staff’s expectations of GOTCHAROCKA, and I feel terrible about it.

Despite coming to this decision, my memories of my time with GOTCHAROCKA are a very precious possession of mine, and I’m very grateful I was able to take part in it.
I’m sorry for doing something selfish like this at the end of it.

If you can accept my selfishness, I’m going to put everything I’ve got into this last month.

Thanks for everything.

Last of all, please keep on being good to GOTCHAROCKA from now on.
