Closet Child is just about the best place to buy used alternative brand-name clothing, from punk to lolita to goth. There are several physical Closet Child shops in Japan’s metropolitan areas.
Let us know what you think by rating your experiences with Closet Child! If you have any pros or cons that you’d like to add to the list, please leave a comment and we’ll amend it when we get a chance.
・The prices are unbeatable compared to buying new.
・Paypal and English-speaking staff make the order process extremely easy.
・Their shipping costs are some of the best I’ve found. (They default to EMS shipping, but will ship via airmail upon request.)
・All items are used, which obviously means that some are damaged. Avoid disappointment by carefully checking product descriptions.
How to buy from Closet Child
Use the shopping cart system on the website. You’ll be able to register for an account during the checkout process, which I highly recommend if you plan on shopping with them again.
Shopping on Closet Child
The photos used in this guide were created by Closet Child, and can be enlarged by clicking on them!
First, find whatever you’d like to purchase and click on カートに入れる to add it to your shopping cart. You’ll be taken to a page showing the contents of your cart.
If you want to keep shopping, feel free! If you’re ready to check out, click レジーに進む and you’ll be taken to a screen that shows all your ordered items.
NOTE: The total that they give you does not include shipping costs. You will not get the final cost until after you’ve sent your order in and they’ve replied to you by e-mail. The price will therefore be more.
Fill in your information in the boxes below your cart as described. Click the next button.
You should essentially be able to skip this section. The button beside the next button (戻る) will take you to the previous page to correct anything you might have messed up. Click next when you’re ready.
Choose your payment method and move along.
Please be aware that even at this point, the total you’re seeing isn’t accurate. As stated in the screen cap above, you’ll receive an invoice once you’re all finished that will have the correct amount for shipping, but they’ve provided some handy information for you to estimate the cost in advance.
Once you click order, you’re done, so only click the button if you’re completely finished and ready to go!
That’s it! You’ll get an automatic email saying that your order has been placed, but it hasn’t been processed nor has the actual shipping charge been factored in until you receive an English-language email from them afterwards.
Once they receive the payment, they’ll send you another e-mail letting you know when your items will be shipped out!
We’d love to know your opinions on the store! Share your good and bad experiences so that others can judge whether or not they’d like to order from here.
