Weekly Discussion Question Round Twenty Seven

Our famous Weekly Discussion Questions are back! This week is a bit of a tame one.

Everyone looks forward to new releases from their favorite bands, but that release hardly ever comes in just one type. There are types with DVDs included, types with more tracks, types with collector’s items…the list goes on. Did you hear about Kiryu’s upcoming release that will come in a staggering ten types? How do you even choose one?

That is exactly the kind of indecision that leads us to this week’s discussion topic:

When there is a new release you’re interested in, how do you pick which CD to get when there are multiple types? Do you go for more tracks, the video footage, or other special goodies thrown in? Or do you just give in and buy all of them?

As always, remember to be polite and respectful in the comments. Feel free to participate in the discussion however you want, whether it’s by leaving a comment on this post or our Facebook page, sending us a Tweet, or reblogging us on Tumblr.

Well it honestly depends on the band.

D.I.D I grab all types, although I have a few I’m missing still, I intend to make up for that at some point.

Same for グリーヴァ and ゴシップ, I’d hate myself for not having everything by those bands.

But any other band, I go for the version/versions with more tracks on.

I just buy the version with the most songs I actually like. If the tracklists are more or less the same, then I’ll spring for the DVD version – this is also true if the DVD contains something that I think I’ll really want to see (and it wasn’t uploaded online by someone else).

I too tend to look at the more longer tracklist for the types I want. However, I do tend to like the extra goodies like booklets. I’m not too much of a DVD person but will consider that version too if I don’t like the other ones.

I would love to get every single type but if the differences are minor, then I just go for the ones that has more extra goodies on it. :)

I bought every/some versions in the past (that depended on how many version were released and what was included, for Jewel I bought both versions because of different songs an them, for DaizyStripper I also bought two versions twice but there had been three or four versions released).
Usually I stick with more songs because I’m not much into watching PV’s/DVD’s.
If it comes to versions including all songs on all versions I go with the with the lowest price. Best example was DaizyStripper’s TRAGUS album, with the special price version that came in a paperboard case instead one made of plastic. It includes a full booklet and I think it were great, if more releases came out like this for that lower price.
