DAMY isn’t the only band breaking up in May.
On January 19, Vexent announced that they will disband after performing one last solo show at Takadanobaba AREA in Tokyo on May 24. Their official announcement and member comments don’t reveal an exact reason for the breakup, but they assure fans that the decision was made in consideration of the members’ future lives and musical careers.
The member comments do reveal that Vexent’s journey hasn’t been an easy one. They’ve had two member switches, a lot of fights, and a lot of road bumps. Despite this, there were members who were willing to continue on with Vexent for the rest of their lives. They also apologize for telling fans, “We definitely won’t break up!” whenever members switched, only for things to end up like this.
Despite all this strife, the band managed to release seven singles, a mini album, a full album, a coupling album, and a few other releases in between. That’s pretty impressive for a career that only lasted about three and a half years.
