Before we get right down into things, I want to explain where this is coming from! We’ve been doing maintenance here at S-T (it seems like there’s always something or another to fix!) and found this tag from about 5 years ago — Flashback Friday. We only ran this serial article three times before it dropped off the face of the earth. I got to thinking that if this was something that was relevant five years ago, perhaps before some of our readers knew about visual kei, imagine how much more fun it would be in 2014!
With that in mind, we’re bringing back Flashback Friday, a serial in which we’ll talk about an old band from “back in the day” of visual kei which is no longer active. At the moment we can’t promise that these serials will come out every single week, but we’ll do our best to make it a regular column for you to enjoy. We’ll profile the bands in question, their members, and their activities and achievements, just like a typical introduction post — the only difference is that these bands are long gone. Oldies, if you will!

Gill’e cadith, 2002 (pre-Mihiro)
Gill’e cadith is not necessarily a household name among visual kei fans, but seems to be at least vaguely-known by fans of Deshabillz and Due’le quartz thanks to some of its members. Interestingly enough, about half of the band men who had been involved in the band fell off the face of the earth shortly after their time in the unit, and half of them have kept quite busy and are still around today.

Gill’e cadith (ジルカディス) began activities on October 18, 2000, during the time that visual kei was arguably in its prime in Japan. Beginning early in their career they were managed by Mission Music Factory and had no shortage of lives, but did get off to a bit of a rough start; both KEN and Miki left just two months into the band’s career. This pushed Gill’e into a temporary hiatus at which began on December 27, 2000.
After six months the band returned. At a two-man with kannivalism on June 6, 2001, guitarists Aiki and Kikyou joined. With this lineup, the band released their first mini-album, 「お茶の間中毒カテゴリィ」 (“Ocha no Aidajuu Doku Category”) on March 3, 2002.
Though Aiki remained with the band until the end almost two years after joining, Kikyou called it quits in May of 2002 and was replaced two months later by Mihiro. This July 2002 lineup of Gill’e cadith was its final lineup. Together they released a second mini-album, 「裏乙女絶倫ファイル」 (“Ura Otome Zetsurin File”) on September 9th. Interestingly, Gill’e cadith played a three-man show on December 12th alongside Garnet and the GazettE at Takadanobaba AREA.
On January 12th they released the demo tape 「自虐妄想クランベリー」 (“Jigyaku Mousou Cranberry”) and February 3rd saw the announcement of their first one-man, to be held on March 30th. Things seemed to only be getting better. But on March 4th, the one-man was changed into a disbandment one-man and their final release, the maxi-single 「青い春」 (“Aoi Haru”) was announced for release at this live only.

2002 – final lineup
The band dissolved after the March 30th one-man, and the rest is history.
