This announcement may be the most surprising of its kind so far this year. After 10 years in the game, AWOI has decided to disband. The decision will go into effect following the band’s tenth anniversary live on October 22nd, 2014 at Osaka BIG CAT. (Details on that anniversary-farewell live are forthcoming.)
AWOI has been picking up speed steadily since their formation and now has quite the loyal following, so this sudden decision is nothing short of a shock. Thankfully, despite the announcement, AWOI will continue with all upcoming events as planned through their dissolution. To find the silver lining around this dark cloud, because the announcement has come so early, fans still have half a year left to enjoy AWOI’s last performances, releases – including their 6th mini album, May 7th’s フテキゴウな林檎 (Futekigou na Ringo) – , and special fan events.
Our incredibly quick translator Adventure Tim has translated the official announcement and member comments from AWOI’s homepage.
Unite fans were greeted with some of the worst news last week.
It was announced on April 10th that after Unite’s upcoming live at Shibuya WWW, drummer Yukimi will be retiring from the band. Fans may be aware that Yukimi has had serious back issues for the last few years with Unite. Unfortunately, the pain has become too great for Yukimi to manage along with the full schedules and practice that is required to work for Unite. In addition, according to his doctors, continuing to play with such issues could cause permanent and serious damage to Yukimi’s spinal cord.
Doctors has been warning Yukimi to take time off from Unite to heal and recover from the extensive damage, but as many musicians and artists do, he attempted to push through the pain.
Unfortunately, Yukimi will be unable to push forward any longer.
Daizystripper fans, take a deep breath!
There seems to have been a little panic for DaizyStripper fans today, but S-T is here with the word straight from Daizystripper’s OHP.
Shattered-Tranquility would like to thank readers for their submissions, tweets, and questions received in regards to the announcement that DaizyStripper will be disbanding, but there are no official comments or announcements from DaizyStripper on their OHP, blogs, or twitters. Shattered-Tranquility will continue to keep an eye on the situation, but according to all official sources, nothing has been posted and DaizyStripper has no intentions on disbanding at this time.
Shattered-Tranquility is aware that information such as disbandments and hiatuses can cause distress for fans, and we will always be on top of breaking news with official sources and information.
But, there is good news to go around! Read more
SIGNAL fans have had a hard year. After the band’s loss of their drummer, Raychel, in June at their One-Man “OVER THE DEAD LINE”, their announced disbandment in September after their final One-Man “CROSSING FATE” , and then the theft of their funds by SIGNAL’s bassist, Shion, no one expected the band to be on speaking terms with one another, let alone willing to work together another time.
However, fans will be delighted on April 20th as SIGNAL announced they will be having a One-Day revival! Read more
Hey guys, just got back from our annual Weekend at Ernie’s party and your pal Ernie is dead tired. But not too tired to bring you a Random Fact!
Now, we here at S-T.net are always on our best behavior at shows, and we know our readers are, too. You mind your manners, you don’t get into fights, you don’t throw things, you don’t steal, and you certainly obey livehouse’s special rules… Right? Most of us know what constitutes “proper” or “polite” behavior, but what about when livehouses have their own standards for what is appropriate or not?
Exciting news for fans of Misaruka–this May, the band will be releasing their first MV collection! The DVD is called “-Animus-” and will be released on the 7th. It will contain every single music video that Misaruka has released between 2011 and 2013. Some of these videos are very hard to find: a few were only included on first press editions of releases, and others were only available at concert venues. Now the classics, and those harder to find videos will all be available in one special collection.
The new DVD will be limited to 1000 copies, and you might want to grab one fast as sales have been going well for Misaruka. Just earlier this year, Misaruka announced a second press of their first album, as the first press sold out. It was released earlier this month, on April 2nd, and there are already only 4 copies left on CD Japan. If you want to grab a last minute copy, be sure to order quickly.
R-Shitei has announced a new single in May, and to promote it, they’ve conducted some impromptu (or faux impromptu) street interviews asking people a rather off-putting question…
Dear readers, it’s Sunday night and you know what that means! It means an all new episode of the hit survival show, Naked and Afraid, on Discovery Channel! Wait, that’s not right. Oh, yeah. It’s time to update you on this week’s upcoming Nico Nico broadcasts!
First let’s review what you hopefully caught last week. Moran with special guest BORN, DUAL CORE SOUND bands, Minus Jin-Say Orchestra, and An Cafe‘s series all hit the web-waves on Nico Nico last week. But that wasn’t all: ViSULOG TV brought LOST ASH and DuelJewel into the mix, too.
This week we’ve got a whole lot to look forward to! NIGHTMARE, Ensoku, REALies, and Golden Bomber will join the fray, as Alice Nine (warning: autoplay), An Cafe, Moran, and SaTaN all return!
It seems like Vanish is having a hard hiatus. At the end of 2013, Vanish announced that 2014 would start with a hiatus. Guitarist Sayo is suffering from focal hand dystonia, a type of neurological disorder common in musicians. It manifests as miscommunication between the brain and specific parts of the body and requires intensive, long-term “retraining” therapy. The unfortunate result is that Sayo has had to step back from Vanish, and the band has gone on a break.
During this break, two more members, bassist Jun and drummer Rem, have decided to depart for their own reasons. Ultimately, this means the band’s planned break has instead become something of a tentative dissolution.
We have both good news and bad news for fans of ROMANESQUE A LIVE today.
In January, it was announced that Mitsuki, formerly of L’avie EN would be joining ROMANESQUE A LIVE as lead guitarist. However, it seems that he encountered health troubles very early in his career with the band. The exciting news today is that he is recovered, and has been officially back onstage with ROMANESQUE A LIVE as of their show on April 9th at Shibuya REX!
Unfortunately, this news is accompanied with a less happy announcement–vocalist Urua and guitarist Shun will be leaving the band. Both are leaving for personal reasons.
MEJIBRAY’s live DVD, A PRIORI Ei: Joshō -Counting Goats- TOUR FINAL AT TSUTAYA O-EAST, is finally here. This is the second of three new MEJIBRAY releases for 2014, and we’re excited to bring you a second interview with the band as well, picking up where last month’s left off.

THE KIDDIE has a new single coming up on April 16th, and the name is quite interesting. It is written “1414287356″ and read as ヒトヨヒトヨニハナミゴロ (Hitoyohitoyonihanamigoro). The new single will be released on April 16th in two types.
2014 has already been a busy time for THE KIDDIE–this is their second single release of the year, following “emit.” which was released on February 12th. However, 2013 was a fairly quiet year for them as far as releases, so it is nice to see them coming back with two releases only two months apart.
We told you earlier this week that PIERROT had a big announcement to make on April 12th, and boy, were we right. Read more
This week, we bring you a more recent Flashback Friday contender – Cuartet.

This probably wasn’t the news One★Star fans wanted to hear. Despite their ever present live activity, they announced earlier in the month that this July, they’ll be disbanding after their final Toumeihan tour and last oneman. They released an official statement on their OHP as well as comments from the members, all of which have been translated by our own Jackson, for you below. Read more
Kuruto of Arlequin had a rough night at the band’s live at Esaka MUSE on March 30th. The guitarist hurt his leg while performing onstage, and was rushed to the hospital right afterwards. The details of his injury were unclear until his third hospital on April 1st, allowing him to perform at the band’s live on March 31st. On the 1st, it was confirmed that there is damage to his anterior cruciate ligament (one of the four main ligaments of the knee). He has been banned from strenuous exercise, and prescribed rest.
Due to his injured knee, Kuruto will be sitting out from Arlequin’s live performances for a while. The band is not yet sure when he will be back, as it obviously depends on how fast his leg heals, but they have confirmed that he will certainly be back. Arlequin will be touring a lot over the next couple months, and it will probably be a difficult time missing a guitarist, but Kuruto will be working hard to get better, so hopefully fans will continue to be supportive.
Last month, Dir en Grey vocalist Kyo announced that his solo project sukekiyo would be performing in Tokyo and Kyoto this May. April has brought even more exciting news. Read more
Fans were disappointed last year after the announcement that after their live at Shibuya REX on December 26, 2013, BLACK LINE would be going on a temporary hiatus. With most bands, fans fear hiatuses nearly as much as disbandments, as so few ever return to activity.
Fans were particularly wary after BLACK LINE’s Vocalist, Mikaru, decided to branch out a little with his project “G.L.A.M.S” that took over Paris this past February.
However, BLACK LINE has returned. Read more
